Dr Caroline Mathias is a specialist Gynaecologist with expertise in the comprehensive management of complex benign gynaecological conditions, with particular interest in adenomyosis, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, uterine and adnexal pathology. She has training in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery and provides evidence-based, individualised care through a multidisciplinary and patient-centred approach. She currently practices privately at Nepean Private Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital and holds public appointments within the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and at Gosford and Wyong public hospital.
Dr Mathias received comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in New South Wales, gaining experience in tertiary and regional settings. She, thereafter, undertook further advanced gynaecological surgical training and gained fellowship experience focused on minimally invasive surgery and complex pelvic pathology. Her expertise has been further strengthened through international visiting fellowships at Mayo Clinic, Arizona, USA and IFEM Endo in Bordeaux,France gaining experience in complex pelvic surgery and multidisciplinary endometriosis care.
Dr Mathias maintains an active academic and research profile through involvement in clinical trials, consensus studies and research focused on patient-reported outcomes. She has been awarded competitive grant funding for her work on the U-ROC trial. Passionate about education, she founded the Nepean Gynaecology Laparoscopic Workshop and is actively involved in teaching, supervision and training in minimally invasive surgical techniques. She is known for her approachable, patient-centred manner, clear communication and collaborative relationships with patients and referring practitioners.
Caroline lives in Sydney with her husband. Together, they enjoy travelling, staying active and exploring the many hiking trails and coastal walks Sydney has to offer. A trained Indian classical dancer, she also enjoys playing the piano and values the balance that music and the arts bring to her life.

She has contributed to clinical trials, multicentre collaborations and consensus studies, presented her work at national and international conferences, and secured competitive grant funding for the U-ROC trial which she conceptualized and leads. Her research informs her clinical practice and reflects her commitment to advancing women's health through innovation and excellence in care.
