Cervical Abnormalities
Cervical Abnormalities
Cervical abnormalities are common and are most often detected through routine cervical screening tests. In many cases, these changes are caused by certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a very common virus that most people are exposed to at some point in their lives. While most cervical abnormalities resolve naturally, some may require further assessment or treatment to prevent progression.
Dr. Caroline Mathias provides comprehensive evaluation and management of abnormal cervical screening results. This may include colposcopy, a procedure that allows detailed examination of the cervix, and cervical biopsy when indicated.
Most cervical abnormalities can be effectively monitored or treated, particularly when detected early. Dr. Mathias works closely with her patients to ensure they understand their results, treatment options, and recommended follow-up care.
