One of the greatest privileges of being a surgeon is the opportunity to continually learn. As a consultant gynaecologist with a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery and endometriosis, I was honoured to spend four weeks in Mid 2026 at IFEMEndo in Bordeaux, France, under the mentorship of Professor Horace Roman, Dr Benjamin Merlot and Dr Thomas Dennis.

It was a tremendous privilege and honour to be invited to speak at the 2026 AGES Annual Scientific Meeting in Auckland. I was invited to present on "Public Robotics in Gynaecology: From Novelty to Necessity," a topic I am deeply passionate about as robotic surgery continues to evolve within the Australian public healthcare system.

The study aims to determine whether ultrasound can help identify women with RPOC who can be managed safely without surgery, ultimately improving patient care while avoiding unnecessary intervention. The project was recognised with a highly competitive RANZCOG Women's Health Foundation Trainee Research Grant, something I remain incredibly proud of.

The 2025 World Endometriosis Society (WES) Congress was particularly special, marking the first time since the Society's inception in 1986 that the meeting was held in Sydney. Welcoming more than 1,000 delegates from around the world, the four-day congress brought together leading clinicians, surgeons and researchers to share the latest advances in endometriosis research, imaging, surgery and multidisciplinary care.

Establishing the Nepean Gynaecology Lap Skills Workshop – Building the Next Generation of minimally invasive surgeons

Spending a week at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona was an unforgettable experience and an incredible opportunity to learn from some of the world's leaders in minimally invasive and robotic gynaecological surgery.

I had the privilege of attending the congress in New Orleans (2024) and Vancouver (2025) as part of the AGES delegation, representing Australia while learning from internationally recognised experts and reconnecting with colleagues from around the world. It was also a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the scientific programme through my video presentations on innovation in robotic Caesarean scar niche repair and robotic techniques in triple compartment deep endometriosis, sharing our surgical experience with an international audience.

One of the most rewarding parts of my surgical training was completing a dedicated two-year robotic gynaecology fellowship at Nepean Hospital. I was fortunate to be among the early cohort of Australian gynaecology fellows to undertake this structured program, which provided comprehensive training in robotic surgery under the guidance of an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Attending the 2025 Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders (SEUD) Congress was a fantastic opportunity to engage with leading experts in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and endometriosis from around the world. The meeting showcased the latest advances in surgical techniques, research and multidisciplinary care, while fostering meaningful discussions and international collaboration.
