Building Expertise in Robotic Gynaecological Surgery

One of the most rewarding parts of my surgical training was completing a dedicated two-year robotic gynaecology fellowship at Nepean Hospital. I was fortunate to be among the early cohort of Australian gynaecology fellows to undertake this structured program, which provided comprehensive training in robotic surgery under the guidance of an experienced multidisciplinary team.

The fellowship took me through every stage of robotic surgery—from simulation and console training to assisting and performing increasingly complex procedures. It strengthened my experience in the robotic management of endometriosis, hysterectomy and other advanced benign gynaecological conditions, while reinforcing the principles of precision, teamwork and minimally invasive surgery.

Today, as a consultant gynaecologist, those experiences continue to shape my practice. Robotic surgery has become an important part of my surgical repertoire, complementing advanced laparoscopy and allowing me to offer women another minimally invasive option when appropriate. I remain passionate about contributing to the continued growth of robotic gynaecology through clinical practice, teaching and research.
